Contested deletion

This article should not be speedy deleted as being recently created, having no relevant page history and duplicating an existing English Wikipedia topic, because it is a well-sourced expansion of information on the topic. -- Voyager 1 Low Battery Alert ( talk) 14:59, 3 January 2023 (UTC) reply

I think it should be moved to 2023 Buffalo Bills–Cincinnati Bengals game to reference the game as a whole. "Collapse" has multiple meanings. CrazyC83 ( talk) 05:17, 4 January 2023 (UTC) reply
by moved you mean renamed? because like Disentrive said below no page exists by that name. Cyclonicpot ( talk) 03:47, 6 January 2023 (UTC) reply

The article doesn’t exist bud Disentrive ( talk) 21:00, 4 January 2023 (UTC) reply

Please respond to this request at Damar Hamlin

There was a clear consensus at Talk:Damar Hamlin not to have a separate article. The procedure to create this article went against the guidelines for a WP:PROPERSPLIT, as there was no discussion, notification, or proper copying of content. Please respond to the discussion at Talk:Damar Hamlin#Does the notoriety of this incident warrant a separate article?. Thanks. - Fuzheado | Talk 15:06, 3 January 2023 (UTC) reply

Coverage went on for 13 more hours?

Specifically: "Coverage ended on ESPN2 at 10 PM ET, on ABC at 11 PM ET and on ESPN at 12 PM ET."

Was 12 AM ET meant? 2600:6C51:447F:D8D9:E9B7:923E:B812:E4BB ( talk) 15:07, 3 January 2023 (UTC) reply

It must have been, because that is currently the future, or someone went back in time. No date is specified. luckymustard ( talk) 15:09, 3 January 2023 (UTC) reply

Article name

Are there any potential objections to the article being renamed "2023 Buffalo Bills–Cincinnati Bengals game" in the future? -- Super Goku V ( talk) 07:41, 6 January 2023 (UTC) reply

  • Procedural oppose. Articles should not be moved whilst at AFD. If it survives AFD, then renaming can be considered afterwards. Joseph 2302 ( talk) 08:33, 6 January 2023 (UTC) reply
I didn't say that it should be moved while the AfD is ongoing. I just wanted to know if there was anyone who was opposed to help figure out the next steps. -- Super Goku V ( talk) 02:31, 7 January 2023 (UTC) reply
Point of information - 40 minutes before this discussion, @ Aria1561 boldly moved the page to a game-specific title ( Special:Diff/1131887688). Then, two minutes before this discussion, @ Super Goku V undid that move ( Special:Diff/1131891229). As @ Joseph2302 said, it is considered poor form to move an article when it is actively being discussed at AfD and there is no consensus for a rename.
Comment - As I mentioned at the AfD ( Special:Diff/1131910343) - Most (if not all) of the extra commentary about the aftermath of Hamlin's injury is not about the game itself, but how the NFL has had to react to the aftermath in terms of scheduling, playoff implications, and all the downstream repercussions. There is not much to be gained by diving into hyper-detail about one game given how little of it actually occurred and the noteworthy part was one tackle/injury. Therefore, I'd question the wisdom in diving into a dedicated article. – Fuzheado | Talk 10:40, 6 January 2023 (UTC) reply
Regarding the Point of Information, part of the reason behind this was that it was independently suggested by another user prior to Aria1561's actions. I feel like I have been misunderstood on this, but I think that was due to how I worded it. Regardless, if you or Joseph2302 believe that this discussion is problematic, then I will just close it so that we don't waste too much time on this. Regarding things, this is going to rehash the AfD rather than discuss potential opposition to the suggested name. To continue, I get that there are users opposed to the idea of this article and have taken actions against it due to violating the initial consensus. Unfortunately, this article was created using content copied from us when it should not have been. I agreed in the beginning that it didn't make sense to have a standalone article. But, as time passed and more sources were covering this, I came to the conclusion that these events were more significant that my initial belief because of the revibrations across the NFL. Currently, I would say that the injury was the most noteworthy standalone event, but that most of the impact comes from the game being declared a 'No Contest' on the 5th. A routine game became anything except routine and now the game is no longer a game under the NFL's rules. Which kinda ties back into the question in the discussion, because some users might not want the article to be named as what was proposed and if there are objections to it, then I feel that they need to be stated as early as possible so that this ordeal can be resolved sooner should the article remain. -- Super Goku V ( talk) 02:59, 7 January 2023 (UTC) reply

FYI, a full copy of the article text (as it existed just before the close of the AfD discussion that resulted in a redirect) was pasted into a new page: Draft:Collapse_of_Damar_Hamlin. It may or may not adhere to:

- Fuzheado | Talk 20:20, 11 January 2023 (UTC) reply

It adheres to WP:G4 so long as it isn’t published before a significant expansion that proves notability. As for WP:CWW, it adheres to that because the article was simply redirected, and the history is still under the redirect. 71.125.36.50 ( talk) 16:52, 16 January 2023 (UTC) reply
