The city of Stillwater has a website for their police department and they have a combined group of media reports on the incident. There should be a worldwide English wikipedia discussion to define notable articles. There is too much inconsistency in WP. What if three people die in a crash? What if this was not premeditated murder. Why is a TV episode nearly automatically wikipedia material?

For what it's worth, friends of friends in Japan had heard about it in local Japanese news, so it does have international coverage. Here is a Japanese article about it.
