Quote: "June 30 – The St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs are involved in a bizarre play at Wrigley Field in which two balls are in play at the same time."
One version of the story has Dark and Taylor throwing to second base at the same time. I especially liked this recounting because in it, Hall-of-Famer Ernie Banks sees two baseballs coming at him at once, and he does just what you or I would do: he ducks.
Alas, in the absence of any filmed record, we just have the confused and contradictory witnesses of several reported and observers, and so shall probably never know.
