This section needs expansion. He has been widely criticised but this article only cites two people. Also, a couple quips by him does not warrant a "Response" section — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.90.111.115 ( talk) 03:35, 14 April 2019 (UTC)
Well when a person can’t handle the truth, negativity comes about. You messages in everything that you do, are superb to me, but those in denial are having a problem with change as well as understanding and trying to apply it to their everyday lifes scares them. I say terrorize them, it just might lessen the hatred being displayed! Continue to do your thing, Mr Perry. I’ll support you, still. Pharon Donez ( talk) 18:38, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

A Strange Loop
Tyler Perry's writing is a central theme in the 2022 Broadway musical,
A Strange Loop. The play's main character, Usher, is simultaneously critical of Perry's work and envious of his success, as his mother implores him to write a gospel play like Perry. The show features multiple references to Perry's work, including the musical number “Tyler Perry Writes Real Life” and charicatures of Usher's family members that resemble characters found in Perry's works.
Though Perry admitted not having seen the musical, after hearing about it from others he contacted the show's writer, Michael R. Jackson, to joke about "beating [his] ass" and ultimately congratulate him on his Pulitzer prize and the show's success.
