The differences in orthography may be obvious to native speakers, but for the rest of us .. could some examples be provided? Something that highlights the differences between the new/old or popular/academic usage?

Yes, the comparative tables from
be-x-old:Тарашкевіца (or
ru:Тарашкевица) are going to be translated, but a little bit later, as for now things there are being discussed. Although you can see the differences in the Belarusian or Russian language versions now. —
