Anyone who thinks Suspect has a deus ex machine ending, doesn't understand the term. The tape -- whose existence is established at the beginning, and whose reappearance is neither arbitrary nor particularly surprising -- all-but acquits Anderson. Who the murderer is, is beside the point -- as is the fact it's someone we didn't suspect. If Roger Ebert doesn't like that -- tough. WilliamSommerwerck ( talk) 00:54, 21 March 2015 (UTC)
I agree and have removed the reference to deus ex machine. I did not alter the references to Roger Ebert's comments, although I agree with you on that, as well. The central tension of the movie is between Cher and the judge, so who the murderer is explains the entire movie. Historydude58 ( talk) 00:32, 21 October 2018 (UTC)Historydude58
