Is there a reason why the names of the whistle blowers are not mentioned?
e.g. Anders Kompass of the UN who did wonderful workd and about whom a documentary was made. [1] or Kathryn Bolkovac
[2] - a multi-award winning movie was made about what she lived.
I added 2 pictures to help with the visualization of the topic.

Merge proposal:UN child sexual abuse scandal in Haiti
FAILED
There is clear consensus against this merge. The two editors
Cossde and
Petextrodon are reminded that their lack of conduct, as shown here and at
WP:CR, has breached
WP:CIVILITY and is thus sanctionable.

oppose merger since this topic deals with a specific scandal in a specific country. The reasons given are unfounded since only mainstream reliable sources are cited, therefore are subjective and not some existing Wikipedia guidelines.---
Petextrodon (
talk) 05:15, 26 February 2024 (UTC)reply
This article (Sexual abuse by UN peacekeepers) deals with similar issues, without another articles for specific scandals or specific country. Why the difference with Haiti?
Cossde (
talk) 05:49, 26 February 2024 (UTC)reply
You are free to create other articles for those countries, whose cases I'm not familiar with enough to comment on, but the Haiti child sex ring has been widely reported thus worthy of such separate treatment. ---
Petextrodon (
talk) 05:52, 26 February 2024 (UTC)reply
You don't seem to be intrested in creating other articles for those countries, does this mean you are more intrested sexual abuse by UN Sri Lankan peacekeepers, than UN peacekeepers in general?
Cossde (
talk) 05:56, 26 February 2024 (UTC)reply
My personal interests are irrelevant. Let's stick to the topic at hand. ----
Petextrodon (
talk) 06:00, 26 February 2024 (UTC)reply
So you agree that you are only intrested in the sexual abuse by UN Sri Lankan peacekeepers?
Cossde (
talk) 06:16, 26 February 2024 (UTC)reply
That doesn't really have to do with anything... you can make an article on that if it's relevant and has long term effects
PARAKANYAA (
talk) 16:26, 26 February 2024 (UTC)reply
The user who suggests this merger, has a long history of attempting to remove reliably sourced content that shows Sri Lankan army crimes, including sexual violence:
Personal attack is disputing my arguments by questioning my motive, or worse, ascribing it, as you have done with several replies above. So, once again, let's stick to the topic at hand since this isn't the place to discuss personal interests. ---
Petextrodon (
talk) 14:56, 26 February 2024 (UTC)reply
Your
WP:BIAS editing (
[4] and
[5]) is clearly part of this discussion due to a lack of
WP:NPOV on your part here as you have mentioned
here.
Cossde (
talk) 03:08, 27 February 2024 (UTC)reply
All the sources I cited are mainstream and reliable. AP News was the one that popularized the case in recent times through their investigation, so I'm afraid your accusations are unfounded and unfair. ---
Petextrodon (
talk) 15:09, 27 February 2024 (UTC)reply
Yet you have failed to achieve
WP:BALANCE in your writing. That I will leave to other neutral editors to decide in that.
Cossde (
talk) 14:04, 29 February 2024 (UTC)reply
Oppose merge. Haiti is a specific country and the sexual abuse there had specific and long term effects - part of why they're so afraid to deploy the UN there again. There's enough for an independent article for both.
PARAKANYAA (
talk) 16:25, 26 February 2024 (UTC)reply
Casually dismissing industrial scale child sexual abuse by armed men as "prostitution" is vile.
Obi2canibe (
talk) 22:08, 26 February 2024 (UTC)reply
Thank you Obi2canibe, I agree with you most strongly. I do apologies on the incorrect wording, it is what the title of this article says sexual abuse by UN peacekeepers, hence the merge request. That said, the article content in the UN child sexual abuse scandal in Haiti needs to be included in the main article since it clearly indicates that this is a major issue seen with peacekeeping forces in the past and present, this is clearly stated in the supporting refs. What is not stated is the link to alleged
Sexual violence against Tamils in Sri Lanka which some
WP:NATIONALIST editors are trying to create with edits such as this
[6] and highlight it with edits such as
[7] and
[8]. One of these editors have
here that they have no interest in child sexual abuse UN peacekeepers, their interest seems to be bias editing against the Sri Lanka hence the approach here of
WP:POVFORK.
Cossde (
talk) 03:06, 27 February 2024 (UTC)reply
This isn't a POVFORK when it's a specific subset localized to its own location (Haiti). The sexual abuse in Haiti had specific causes and effects different from this article which is more generalized. The abuse in Haiti lead to long term, severe consequences for the country. The dispute you all are having is completely unrelated.
PARAKANYAA (
talk) 04:23, 27 February 2024 (UTC)reply
Cossde, There's no
WP:NATIONALIST editing since the content is a summary of the mainstream news article cited which evidently you didn't bother reading.---
Petextrodon (
talk) 15:23, 27 February 2024 (UTC)reply
@
Petextrodon, I am questioning your motives as your edit history appears to reflect
WP:NATIONALIST editing and your
WP:OR in linking this article with
[9].
Cossde (
talk) 02:12, 28 February 2024 (UTC)reply
@
Cossde, the same can be said about some of your edits. Once again, there's no WP:OR and I urge you to read the article cited before throwing these unfounded accusations at me. ---
Petextrodon (
talk) 18:01, 28 February 2024 (UTC)reply
@
Petextrodon, can you please quote the part of the article that refers to "The culture of impunity for the sexual violence against Tamils during Sri Lankan civil war contributed to the abuses".
Cossde (
talk) 13:59, 29 February 2024 (UTC)reply
@
Cossde, so you admit that all this time you hadn't even bothered to read the cited article before you threw these accusations of nationalist editing and original research at me? Otherwise, I don't know how anyone could have missed this part which explicitly has the phrase "culture of impunity":
"The alleged abuses committed by its troops abroad stem from a culture of impunity that arose during Sri Lanka’s civil war and has seeped into its peacekeeping missions. The government has consistently refused calls for independent investigations into its generation-long civil war, marked by widespread reports of rape camps, torture, mass killings and other alleged war crimes by its troops."

Next time try reading the cited source first because what you have done is highly unethical and am sure also breaches Wiki guidelines. --- 18:25, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
Petextrodon (

@
Petextrodon, I can read a source thank you very much. I was keen to know how you came to the conclusion you did in your edit. Once again, you come at me with "so you admit that all this time you hadn't even bothered to read the cited article". In this case I feel that you are behavior is highly unethical and in breach of Wiki guidelines. You have take a broad and general phasing and linked it to
Sexual violence against Tamils in Sri Lanka an article you appear to be the
WP:OWNER, which appears to me as
WP:OR and thereafter added it to the see also which is a clear goes against
MOS:ALSO.
Cossde (
talk) 23:47, 29 February 2024 (UTC)reply
@
Cossde Then what was the reason for requesting me to quote the obvious? So what you're now saying is you don't like a hyperlink to another very relevant
article involving the same perpetrators, therefore you want the whole article on the Haiti scandal deleted by merging it with the current one? Unfortunately Wikipedia doesn't work according to your personal likes and dislikes. You had no problem
adding links to sexual violence in unrelated conflicts in the "See also" of Sexual violence against Tamils in Sri Lanka, so what changed now? ---
