Oppose . Merging different militaries bad idea. Creates confusion. Polish article has lots of detail for full article.

Support. I think the article can describe the usage of this term in Polish and Russian militaries. The only issue is which name is better, this can cause some annoyance to Polish/Russians who don't like to see the 'other' naming being dominant on en wiki... --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus|

Please explain the advantage of having Polish and Russian militaries described in one page. Completely different subjects and obviously plenty of nontrivial info. There is a large article
pl:Podporucznik. If you have nothing better to do then go and start merging
Iosif with
Jozef,
Konstanty and
Konstantin,
Maciej and
Matvey,
Szczepan and
Stepan, etc., etc.

Staszek Lem, I don't see how the same rank in different Slavic countries is separately notable. The target article should not be seen as 'Russian' but as 'Slavic', and should describe the variations of this rank in various countries that use this term. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus|

It is the "same" rank in name only. Each country has its own regulations (probably unified across
NATO, though, but not all Slavic states are in NATO.

Support merge; there is already more information on the Polish rank at
Podporuchik than there is at
Podporucznik. That page is also not exclusively Russian, but Slavophone. For an en-Wiki, having these similar ranks discussed collectively is helpful for reader in English.

If yoo look the the lede of
Podporuchik, you'll see that the issue of equivalence is nos a simple as you think. This article is good as a summary, but details must be detailed in separate pages, otherwise there will be lots of confusion.
