Kärnefelt fondly recalls their first meeting in 1970 as the beginning of a lifelong friendship and professional relationship, during which Almborn guided him through the complexities of lichenology with encouragement and expert insight. Unencyclopedic tone
leaving a lasting legacy on many who passed through Lund University's botanical department. Again unencyclopedic
Almborn retired in 1980, although he kept active Kept active?

His stories of venerable botanists captivated and amused his colleagues, adding a personal touch to his scholarly presence. Unencyclopedic
He is remembered for his kindness, generosity, and the lasting influence of his scientific endeavors. Unencyclopedic once again
Through these contributions, Almborn left a lasting imprint on lichenology and botanical studies, ensuring that his influence would continue to be felt long after his passing. Yet another case
I've "neutralized" the tone for all of the "unencyclopedic" examples you pointed out; I don't want to remove them entirely, as his obituaries emphasize these aspects of his personality.
