I've removed North Cestrian as it's been put at no.21 in a top 20 list, it's an independent not a state school, and even if it was it wouldn't be next on the list (it looks like Urmston Grammar School would be 21st). The source I found (on the Guardian website) is divided into sections and includes independent schools, if a better source is found this can be replaced (or when tables for 2007 can be found). -- Snigbrook (talk) 19:38, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
Their is an inconsistancy with the way that the sizes of the towns are rated. Some towns like Warrington have the population of surrounding civil parishes (eg Burtonwood, Lymm, etc..) included while others like Northwich where nearly two thirds of the population live in surrounding parishes have them excluded! Can Ddstretch explain!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.144.181.169 ( talk) 23:42, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
The formatting of this section has been set up in a way which makes my display mangle the entire section: the images over-write the third column of the text. I'm on an 1024 x 768 sized display, which i don't think is yet too old fashioned to ignore, and so I'm going to alter the section to allow people with displays like mine view the information better. Why is it necessary to have the list of airlines and destinations served from North West Airports in this article, when a link to the Wikipedia page of each airport article is already provided, where this information can be easily found? The information on this page is now significantly out of date, and I can't see any benefit to updating this separate list each time an airline / destination change is made on the respective airport pages, so I propose deletion of these lists. Any thoughts? Thanks. SempreVolando ( talk) 11:11, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
According to the Wikipedia article for Trafford College, The North and South Trafford Colleges merged in 2007. I have merged the two entries into a single item. – eJames (talk) – 20:44, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
In this page, there is a lot of focus on the Scouse accent, where as the Manc accent is generalised as 'Lancashire'. The Mancunian accent is just as identifiable as the Scouse accent and sounds nothing like a typical 'Lancashire' accent. Does nobody think this should be encorporated into this page?
Apologies if I have editted this wrong I am no Wiki expert. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Salfordsredarmy ( talk • contribs) 15:06, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
The North West is politically little more than a statistical region invented by central government. Culturally & historically, it's largely artificial and most people don't identify with it. So why have we got everything from schools to accents on here? Schools, for example, are mostly a local thing, most of which have some relationship with their local council. Surely, schools should be featured in the local authority pages. Accents also. The only things that should be on this page are North West relevent things, such as the Manchester-based media, Euro-constituencies etc. itsenäisyyspäivä —Preceding undated comment added 14:53, 14 April 2011 (UTC).
Wow - economic planning region. How many people do you think even knew that they existed, yet alone based their identities on them?
Regardless, my main point still stands. Schools are not a 'North West' thing. They're an England thing and a local authority thing.
What next? Mental Health institutions in the Northern Hemisphere? itsenäisyyspäivä —Preceding undated comment added 01:00, 10 May 2011 (UTC).
What is this all about? Within Greater Manchester, you have Manchester, way up at the top, and then Salford way down. The City of Salford has a population of about 218,000. Other component parts of what is the city are listed separately. An example is Walkden. As usual, on here, when it comes to the UK in particular, you are not comparing like with like. Did not break Manchester up, so why Salford? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.149.180.163 ( talk) 17:12, 15 August 2011 (UTC)
Although it may not be possible to discern complete consensus amongst sources for population figures for agglomerated urban (+ wider) areas (eg 'Manchester metropolitan area', 'Manchester - Liverpool megalopolis' etc.), I think it is imperative that the figures given are internally consistent within each article, and also preferentially within connected/related Wikipedia articles. This is why in a recent edit of mine to this article, I changed what was a precise figure for the 'Manchester - Liverpool megalopolis' into a more general one - otherwise it would have contradicted the sum of the two preceeding component populations (i.e. 'Manchester metropolitan area' and 'Liverpool/Birkenhead metropolitan area' respectively). However it might be that it should have been the component population figures which were amended.....? PaleCloudedWhite ( talk) 20:09, 17 November 2011 (UTC)

The article states that with the establishment of the GMCA, the existing metropolitan boroughs are "once again second tier authorities". I don't think that this is correct under the Local Government Acts. Metropolitan boroughs are still unitaries - the GMCA is not considered as a de facto met county and the individual met boroughs retain legal responsibility for all local authority services in their area. Hi, I’m Andrew Clark and I work at the Office for National Statistics in the UK.
We publish lots of infographics and I wonder if this one on North West of England ( https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Regional_Profile_of_the_North_West.png) would be of interest for North_West_England
FYI, the full gallery, updated weekly, is here < https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Content_created_by_the_Office_for_National_Statistics>
All the best

Hawarden Airport is not in Cheshire - it's in Flintshire - so I suggest this entry should be removed for accuracy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Clogs ( talk • contribs) 14:55, 15 April 2017 (UTC)

There is currently a discussion at Talk:Regions of England regarding the official name of the region, as I believe that it is actually "North West", not "North West England". The thread is Talk:Regions of England § Some of the region article titles are wrong.. Thank you. Theknightwho ( talk) 04:52, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
