The "List of doping cases in cycling" contained a thin accusation -- that because Major Taylor spoke of experiencing hallucinations, he was probably taking nitroglycerine. That accusation has been removed, so the link to the section is no longer appropriate.

Taylor was exhausted from riding for several hours during the six-day race at Madison Square Garden. He did complete this competition. [3] On page 18 of his autobiography, Taylor describes being "sleepy, hungry, thirsty and fatigued, and begged them to allow me to dismount." [4] KThistory ( talk) 11:34, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
More appropriate might be a discussion of possible doping that pre-dated doping testing. Amanda bee ( talk) 12:12, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Marshall Taylor →
Major Taylor – As the
velodrome, boulevard, society and association commemorating him all use the name "Major Taylor", this appears to be his
WP:COMMONNAME by which the article should be titled. But I'm not a cycling expert, nor an American, so I await the comments of other editors.

The list of world records shows 1:19 for 1 mile in 1899, followed by 1:33 2/5 for the same distance in 1908. Both are notated as motor-paced. How could the later mark have been a world record? 2601:642:C201:210:34D2:3969:AD0F:8101 ( talk) 22:11, 17 February 2024 (UTC)
