The map (Moon_names.jpg) shown both here and on the Lunar mare page has an error. Mare Crisium is translated as "sea of storms," when it should be "sea of crises" (and is listed as such in the main text, as well as on the Mare Crisium page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.174.121.228 ( talk) 21:57, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Where is the Sea of Showers?
Should this article be List of maria on the Moon instead, and the corresponding Category:Mare on the Moon be Category:Maria on the Moon? Bryan 00:44, 14 Jul 2004 (UTC)
I have come across the Mare Parvum, Mare Incognitum, Mare Novum and the Mare Struve, though they do not seem to be officially recognized now.
Mare Parvum (Small Sea) lies immediately to the east of crater Inghirami on the western limb.
Mare Incognitum (Unknown Sea) lies "behind" Liddiard (an unofficial name for a crater near Gauss, though where exactly I don't know!).
Mare Novum (New Sea) lies NE of Plutarch.
Mare Struve (Struve's Sea) is near Messala. Eroica 10:52, 27 September 2005 (UTC)
Regarding Grimaldi, I'm not suggesting it should be added as a Mare but perhaps the article could somehow mention something like this: The Grimaldi crater by its darkened appearance may be misidentified as a small sea." Grimaldi's own article states, "The mare lava floor..." Bob Enyart, Denver KGOV radio host ( talk) 13:43, 6 July 2019 (UTC)

For Mare Fecunditatis, the table on the page lists a diameter of 909 km. On the Mare Fecunditatis page, the quoted diameter is 909 miles. The can't both be right. 82.229.209.33 20:32, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
The current title is misleading in that it includes not just maria but also oceanus, lacus, sinus and paludes. Since this list is not just about maria, I think the title should be changed to something more inclusive, such as List of lava plains on the Moon. Volcano guy 18:35, 27 December 2020 (UTC)
