Y and question: That was already there before I expanded. Didn't know that was a thing. Since the first sentence breaks up the article title, does removing the bold/wikilinks work for

"when the event took part from 27 July – 12 August 2012." - can be either the event occurred from 27 July to 12 August 2012. or the eventh took place from 27 July to 12 August 2012.
"This was the nation's eighth consecutive Olympiad since 1980," - shouldn't that be eighth appearance overall and not consecutive since they did not participate in the 1984 Games?
Y I think I meant seventh consecutive after not appearing in 1984. Reworded and added debut as well. --

Wikilink flag bearer
Y and question: Done. Is it one word, two or with a dash? Google gives me different results --

"Inthavong placed the highest for Laos in 2012 with a 56th finish." - think there is a missing word between "56th" and "finish"
Y Though I did say "placed" earlier in the sentence, I reworded it to make it sound better :) --

Background
Perphaps mention the 1984 Summer Olympics were in Los Angeles?
question - If i do, what about the 1980 Summer Olympics? Would if flow properly if I add the city for one and not the other? Or should both cities be mentioned? --

Mention the 2012 Summer Olympics took place in London in the first paragraph
"the Laotian runners used concrete barbell weights made from paint cans and tires." - tyres
question - Not 100% about this one. I'm seeing results for tire and tyre. I know tyre is for British English ones like UK/Canada. Not sure if this in the case cause they were training in Laos. The source is also Singaporean as well. --

"For the 2012 Olympics, Kilakone Siphonexay and Laenly Phoutthavong represented the country in athletics while Phathana Inthavong competed in swimming." - consider linking the sports of the participants
comment In my opinion, I think that'd be overlinking as they're common words. If you feel it's needed, let me know. --

Wikilink flag bearer
Y and comment - similar question into the spelling of flagbearer per lead. --

"Siphonexay was one second slower than the B standard qualifying time" - maybe write out the B standard qualifying time
comment Would it be redundant per WP:CALC? I'd clarify that it was exactly one second slower. --

"Based on his placing and time during the heats, Siphonexay did not advance to the next round." - State the reason why he did not qualify for the next round
comment That one and Phoutthavong I was having trouble wording it. I'll come back to those after. --

"With her placing and a time of 13.15 seconds, Phoutthavong did not qualify for the first round." - Explain why she did not make it through to the next round
Delete the statements that are not used in any of the tables
Y I originally left it as it was already there. However, now deleted as none of it was used. --

"His entry time of 28.94 seconds was 6.06 seconds slower than the invitational time for the Olympics." - maybe state the Olympic invitational time for the swimming event
comment Similarly, I'm not sure if it'd be redundant to mention the exact time. 22.88 was the invitational time, which is 6.06 second faster than Inthavong's time.
"slower than the invitational time for the Olympics.[24][23]" - refs in numerical order please
Y I cite them in the order of the sentence they are used in. In this case, it's in the wrong order. --

"As Inthavong did not have one of the top 16 times during the heats, Inthavong did not qualify for the semifinals." - repetition of "Inthavong"
The results table might be better with references included for extra verification
comment Tweaked table as it's the heat finish placing, not overall. Also added heat time in the prose as I missed it. --

ALT2:... that runners training for Laos at the 2012 Summer Olympics used tires and paint cans both full of concrete as
barbell weights? Source: Same as main hook
Comment: Not 100% if tires should be changed to tyres per Lao / Singaporean spelling. If it does, please let me know. :)

MrLinkinPark333: Article has passed GA, hook is verified. Article is long enough, reasonably well written and referenced (to reliable sources), neutral. Hook is interesting, and I think either tires or tyres is fine. No copyvio. I wonder if it should be phrased as "runners training to represent Laos at the 2012 Summer Olympics"? Either way, good to go. Nice work.
