I admit, I am no expert in incorruptibility, but from the photographs I've seen, it appears rather obvious that his body has decomposed quite a bit since his death.
Here are two pictures of him after his corpse was washed:

What am I missing here?

That if they body had decayed, there would be mostly bones left and little else; nor would it be in one piece. The body
desiccated; it didn't decay except (as noted when the relics were exposed) for a spot on one foot. That in itself may be miraculous, as it was sealed in an airtight sarcophagus from which most of the oxygen was subsequently removed via oxidation of the inner steel coffin and the metallic threads of his vestments. Normally this results in putrefaction due to action from anaerobic bacteria, which didn't occur.
I have heard that the body was still supple when first exposed, and it only turned dark after being washed. I think it was later determined that the procedure was carried out incorrectly and that under the circumstances the body should not have been washed. No cites for that atm though. —Preceding

I'm a casual user of wikipedia, and not an editor per se, but the tone of this article strikes me as rather uncyclopedic and as if written by someone who really liked the guy - and it shows. Would it be preferable to alter the choice of words and place footnotes for the more colorful claims? — Preceding

IMHO, the tone of the article is fine, just maybe "He is beloved and celebrated worldwide" requires some links. The article wasn't written by one person, the text was revised and corrected many times by different editors.
