Ring is a FOSS project for VOIP. It is notable for its long history (it has changed name from SLPhone), also it is the second best known project after Linphone, that at last entered Android platform. And it is also notable as GPL-3 licenced software.

I second that. Since the faltering of the similar Tox project, and Ring becoming a GNU Project, there has been a lot of interest in the software freedom activists, and some interest from the tech press. Some more sources:
The long list of bullet points towards the end of the page might be better converted into a series of paragraphs explaining the most significant features.
