It seems 12th December has been very lucky for
Irfan Pathan. On that date, he debuted in 2003, got his first ten wicket haul in 2004 and debuted as opener(scored 93 runs) in 2005
[1]. Is it encyclopedic? --

Personally, I'm not inclined to note coincidences like that unless they become absurdly improbable, although others may disagree.

I don't think its encyclopedic yet.

Thanks Sundar! I have uploaded the image but it isn't a clear one & doesn't focus on Irfan. Can someone provied a better image? Thanks Srikeit(talk ¦

Yeah.
This from
here is better, but we need to get it released under a suitable
licence by writing to the photographer. --

Two comments: firstly, there's a bit of unexplained jargon that non-cricket followers wouldn't understand - specifically "Pathan has since found himself dropped from the team in both forms of the game", where the fact that "both forms of the game" hasn't been metioned previously (ODIs and Tests, I presume). Secondly, the lack of image, although not a killer blow, lets this article down. I understand that
Fair Use is a bitch in this area, but maybe try searching
Flickr or somewhere for an image which has a good license (see
WP:IMAGE). Daniel.Bryant[

I've broken his international career into three logical phases now I guess. Unfortunately, fans aren't allowed anywhere near players on the subcontintent, so we're without a free pic. I doubt we can pilfer one of cricinfos as fair use depiction of a historical event though. Blnguyen (

I believe that, given the way cricket in the subcontinent is, taking a photo of a player would be near-impossible. If you say such in a fair-use rationale on the image page, I see no problem using that Cricinfo image. Daniel.Bryant[

Well to take a portrait, we could not use fairuse under any circumstances, as we could take a photo of him when he is overseas. However the fair use might be used to describe historic events (non-repeatable clause) such as the hat-trick. however, I'm surprised we have never used that excuse on any cricket articles. Blnguyen (
bananabucket) 05:23, 22 December 2006 (UTC)reply
OK, I'm going to promote this after discussion with the primary author both here and in instant messaging chat, after the prose was fixed up, the structure improved and some minor jargon points clarified. I'm envoking the clause about "not having an image does not mean GA" in this case, however it would be great if you could get one that is appropriately licensed. Cheers, and good work, Daniel.Bryant[

The only problem here is the uncited final section "International comeback". Once that is cited this will qualify for GA.--

Done. Please make sure in future that the coverage on this (and any other active sportsperson) article is kept up to date several times a year.--

I see they are sourced, but can we have the sources properly formatted please?--
Jackyd101 (
talk) 14:24, 20 July 2008 (UTC)reply
Hi, due to the youth of this sports person, it is acceptable for their personal life section to only cover the period before they began their career. However, as they grow older it becomes more important for information on their life outside sport to appear in the article. Please ensure that as the person develops their article does too. For an example of how such a section might look, see
Brian Urlacher and for pointers on how to expand and improve such a section, see
this guide. Thanks--

Too much Detail
The article dicusses way too many cricketing number for way too many cricket matches. It is heavily condensed and slightly unreadable. — Preceding
