Thanks to Trilotat for reforming the reference format.
Thanks to bigturtle for Confucius: Man and Myth source.[
First paragraph of "background" is obtained from Emperor Jing of Han, which I might eventually work on sourcing.

I am dividiing the "speech" section to make additional contrast with Dongzhong Shu, who, while generally considered as making philosophical contribution, is contrasted with Gongsun Hong, with the latter as potentially contributing more to their initial entry into office. I'd like to suggest that shortened footnotes, using the {{sfn}} template, might improve this article. It would reduce the length of the reference section by combining duplicate references, use of {{reflist|20em}} and a notes section. See an example at NBR 224 and 420 Classes (13:32, 1 August 2011). I'm happy to help.-- Trilotat ( talk) 16:33, 2 July 2017 (UTC)
The reference, "Don J. Wyatt. China Review International. 9.2 (Fall 2002): p564. From General OneFile. Griet Vankeerberghen. The Huainanzi and Liu An's Claim to Moral Authority" is strangely formatted. The Don Wyatt part appears to be missing a title. The part after, "Griet Vankeerberghen" has already been used. @ FourLights: if you add new references, recommend you add them alphabetically. Trilotat ( talk) 17:16, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
