Unlikely Historicity

Perhaps the fact that in late July/early August 66 AD, Pella was one of the Hellenistic cities attacked by its pro-revolt Jewish faction living there according to Josephus (Jewish War, Book 2, Chapter 18.1) at a time when Jerusalem would've been safer for a Jew or any Jewish Christian than any Hellenistic city means this is probably a legend. Also Josephus would've probably mentioned such a mass arrival slightly prior.

It would be more interesting to find out how the association of Pella specifically came about, but that question will probably never be answered. Cornelius ( talk) 05:12, 22 March 2021 (UTC) reply
