I've deleted an assertion that Wise "drew" the first number at the launch of Premium Bonds, which was unsourced and evidently untrue. See: [1] Piers Fletcher ( talk) 11:47, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
Should he be listed under English Jews? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pertuk ( talk • contribs) 11:50, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
I was led to belive that Ernie wise was born and raised in Dent Street, Richmond Hill Leeds 9, but there is no mention on the page. Rgolton1 ( talk) 10:25, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
This is totally unreferenced, does anyone actually have any evidence for this? Looks very odd! Kiern Moran ( talk) 22:57, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
I admit to drive-by tagging here. Wise was (is) an iconic character in British entertainment & I just know that this article can be so much better. TV/entertainment etc is not really something that I get involved with but I am hoping that someone with access to the sources and the various biographies etc can make something more of this article. It deserves a better treatment than currently exists. - Sitush ( talk) 00:52, 25 December 2012 (UTC)
There is a mention towards the end that a statue to Ernie was erected in Morely, his “home town”, but this is the first time the place is mentioned in the article, which seems to suggest that he was born and brought up in Bramley, Leeds, and later lived in Peterborough and Henley. As the statue was paid for by his widow the connection seems to be genuine, but perhaps the place could be introduced earlier in the article (was Bramley just the local maternity hospital if you lived in Morley?)
