Should East Indian also reffer to people from the country of Indian? Currently Indian = People from India and Indian = Native American.
I've noticed the 'East Indian' option on many ethnicity questions and after asking a few people everyone said that East Indian = People from India.
I will add this to the East Indian page unless someone else thinks otherwise.
You're absolutely right. The term is NEVER used to mean Native Americans. I've corrected that.

How peculiar. Here (in the UK) such forms would include Indians under "Asian". I assume this is a US form where "Asian" is taken to mean Chinese, Japanese, Korean etc. Anyway... what really confuses me is the reference to "western hemisphere" in the description. I don't understand what that means in this context.
