Chilöe Wigeon → Chiloe Wigeon – I believe discritic is misused here. Most other Wikipedia articles list spelling as
Chiloé, but because of my general opposition to the use of diacritics in the english wikipedia, I am proposing the name change as listed, as spelled by the IOC, who we use as our standard..

Here is IOC.

Question.First, can the proposer please reword to show at a glance and unambiguously that "Chiloe" is what is proposed, and not "Chiloé"? "Chiloe" appears in the code for this section, but it is not visible on the page above. [Thanks for fixing that. Still waiting for more opinions to surface.–N] "Chiloe" does seem to be the most common form in print in English. Just so it's on record here, Spanish has "Chiloé" as the standard form (see
Chiloé Island, etc.); and the "ö" in English would be motivated by a wish to show that the word has three syllables, not just two (compare old spellings like "coördinate"). NoeticaTea? 07:43, 23 August 2011 (UTC)reply
