Fair use rationale for Image:BEGIN screen.JPG
Image:BEGIN screen.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under
fair use but there is no
explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the
boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with
fair use.
Please go to
the image description page and edit it to include a
fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at
Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on
criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the
Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Tell me about it, I've been trying to coax this out of the editors who've been working on this and similar articles of late but with little to no success.

Yes it was. It was included in the PC-SIG CD ROM collection and I think it was reviewed in their Shareware Magazine. They went out of business around 1991. It was reviewed or mentioned in a couple other magazines but it has been a long time and I don't remember where. I might have copies of the articles somewhere but I have moved six times since we wrote the original program back in 1984 so I am not sure where they might be. I think one of the local SF bay area computer magazines (papers) was one of them. —Preceding

I found a couple of printed reviews. Sanyo PC Hackers Newsletter. Vol 5 Issue 5. SF Bay Area, Sept 1988. page 7.
I can take anything that's not self-published and use it to improve the article - so perhaps not the newsletter, but probably Microtimes? If it's not too much trouble, can you scan the reviews?

Begin was released as shareware by PC-SIG on disk1692
[1] and is located here
[2]. I'm pretty sure a review (and thus a solid ref) is in here
[3] and could be cited as it was in
Sleuth_(computer_game). There is in fact a review in the zip file, I'll cite it for now.

I'm sure a review of shareware by the company that released it is a "solid ref" to the game's existence, but not terribly helpful to the issue of notability.
