B of the Bang will be 56m. Nelson's column including statue and plynth is 57m. Does that count as a sculpture? (comment added 23:03, 22 September 2004 by

"B of the Bang" quote
It is often reported that Linford Christie made the quote, and in truth he did, but (I am sure, and I will try to find citations) his quote came after consulting Colin Jackson (the 110m World Record Holder) on how he could improve his start, and "Colin told [me] to go on the B of the Bang". —Preceding

Photo?
In comparison to the photos on the official website, I feel the current article photo doesn't convey the sheer massiveness of the sculpture. Anyone else agree, or have a better photo?

I actually came to this page to comment on the photo after seeing it on the Manchester page. I think the super-bright red car in the foreground is very distracting. I don't mean to criticise the photo's contributor since I think the photo is much better than no photo, but my hope would be that someone else could get another picture of this sculpture. (Also perhaps without some of the ground clutter like the "Sportcity" sign and the lampposts, but that may not be possible given the sculpture's size and proximity to the objects.) "As of January 2007, a safety fence still remains around the sculpture, and doubts about its long-term future are being expressed." Based on that quote, time may be running out to get a photo. --

Dead link
There's a problem with bofthebang.com, I'm getting the message "Account suspended: Account for domain www.bofthebang.com has been suspended".

Well spotted. I've put links to the archives, but they don't display very well due to the javascript used on the pages. The information is still available in the source code, though.

I thought this too. Being Bold, I will shift them.

No I won't. Not very up-to-date on these things, but the coords need to be in there for them to appear at the top. I'll consider whether they could be better placed, but I'll leave them for now.

Height
Hello, I'm french. In this article, we may find that "B of the Bang was Britain's tallest sculpture at twice the height of the Angel of the North,[14] which stands at 66 feet (20 m). We may also find that "B of the Bang originally stood 56 metres". But 20*2 is not equal to 56. Where is the solution please ?

Bonjour, I'm English! Very good point, thanks for spotting it. The silly thing is that the text cites a newspaper article which does say that. However, as it seems it is simply wrong, and the figures are available anyway, I have been
bold and added "well over" so the comparison still works but the ridiculous precision is removed. Does that work? Thanks and best wishes
