Wouldn't there be any Sri Lankan South Africans making up some of the decendants of the Tamil South Africans and some Cape Malays and Coloured?? TheCeylon24 ( talk) 20:11, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
I recall reading somewhere that many Chinese labourers were bought to South Africa to work on building Railway lines in the Transvaal in the early 20th Centuary, but the majority of them were forced to return to China after the work was completed.
For completeness the Cape Malays should be mentioned as technically they are Asian, hailing from Malasia/Indonesia. -- Htaccess 03:27, 31 Jan 2004 (UTC)
I find it very interesting that Japanese and Taiwanese Chinese were given "honorary white" status under apartheid, and I would love to use this fact in the essay I'm writing. However, there is no citation for this fact and I cannot use it without proof in my essay. It's too late for me to use it, but perhaps for future use someone could provide a link to a site which backs up this historical oddity. I'll take a look myself in the meantime.

This article is (correctly) about the term Asian, which is generally treated as synonymous with Indian South African and not about any particular group of called Asian South Africans; so focussing the title on the term is likely to be less confusing for readers and match the intent of the article. Since when Asian and indian in ZA are the same? Whoever that's done this, I don't think is a ZA citizen. You don't have to be ZA to know difference twixt Asia&india. 41.114.61.245 ( talk) 16:06, 24 May 2022 (UTC)
