See Talk:Arabesque (Islamic art) for main discussion. Johnbod ( talk) 10:37, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
I have reverted the redirect to Arabesque (Islamic art) made by Johnbod on 8 Oct 2011, which simply deleted the whole article. Restored to version of 2 Oct 2011. This was a somewhat mischievous action as the matter of the division of this topic into two separate articles, broadly speaking Islamic & European, had been much discussed on the talk page to the latter article, and it appeared that a consensus had been reached to develop two articles, which consensus needs to be altered before such a drastic move may be properly made. What is needed in this entry is a far stronger development of the aesthetic and literary character of the arabesque. This would involve references to the form/style of Laurence Sterne, and to romantic discussions of Tristram Shandy and Don Quixote outlined by the philosopher Schlegel.
