I have removed the note regarding holodeck matter. Although it's true that holodeck matter can't exist long-term outside the holodeck, it can exist for a few seconds before it breaks down. For example, near the end of
The Big Goodbye, Redblock and Leech walk off the holodeck, and survive for several seconds before vanishing. Therefore, a snowball thrown from the holodeck would last long enough to strike Picard before vanishing. —

Warp 6 matter
Data had calculated the maximum orbit time and maximum warp to the Neutral Zone and were left with 17 min before the landing party received word that lives were spared. All the crew, including captain, back in their chairs and they still had time to only go at warp 6? —Preceding

Wikipedia is no place to discuss story logic or goofs of TV shows. --

I should be able to review this within a few days. Thanks, Ruby2010/2013 01:32, 1 April 2013 (UTC)reply
Thanks! I just wanted to say that this'll be the first TNG article to have the Nielsen rating included. After much searching at the end of last year and the beginning of this year for a reliable source I gave up. Then yesterday whilst searching for the ratings (and failing) for a version of "
The Trouble with Tribbles" that I've been working up in userspace, I stumbled across a link to a now non-existent page on TrekNation. One trip to the Wayback Machine on archive.org later and viola. The full set of Nielsen Ratings for TNG, DS9 and most of Voyager (heck, the Voyager ones even contain commentary about the other shows in the same timeslot! I'm feeling very pleased with myself because I'd managed to find the ratings before but not on a reliable site.

I'm glad you were able to track some down! Believe me, I know how difficult it can be, especially with reliable sources. Ruby2010/2013 15:58, 1 April 2013 (UTC)reply

"...the holodeck. incapacitating much of the crew...." -- I assume the period in the middle of that sentence is accidental? (I don't want to make an assumption about the term "holodeck", having not seen the show!)
Riker orders Data to deal with the Neutral Zone situation as quickly..." -- I'm not familiar with the Neutral Zone. Is there a relevent wikilink that could be inputted here?
Added the appropriate wikilink at the end of the first paragraph.

"The episode featured the first mention of the Romulans, who would appear later in the series in "The Neutral Zone" " -- might be good to remind readers you're referring to "Angel One" (the episode -> "Angel One"), and also to explain that "The Neutral Zone" is the season's finale (more context is always better, IMO!) Same goes for your mention of Insights (mention that it's a television series and give a date)
It might be better to switch around the opinions stated in the Stewart-McFadden sentence (Gates McFadden later described it as "one of the most sexist episodes we ever had," and Patrick Stewart sought to have the episode changed to reduce the sexist elements."), as she is referring to the original version that he wished changed
I'm a little confused with how the original story differed from the end product. I assume the rest of production section's second paragraph is referring to the original, not the one that eventually aired?
Sadly, it's referring to the aired version.

"Zack Handlen watched the episode for The A.V. Club said that..." -- could use a transition (...The A.V. Club and"...)
I'm sure you get asked this in every ST review, but are there any contemporary reviews for you to use?
The only ones that really survived are for the stand out episodes that were picked up by major news sources. For example, the season openers/finales and pretty much the episodes that are easy to recall. For episodes such as Angel One which pretty much filled up time while waiting for a better episode to come along, they just didn't get picked up like that.

Just an aside, it seems like every Star Trek episode I read/review on Wikipedia has negative reviews. I talked to a friend about this and he says I somehow manage to find the episodes with the most negative reception (Like "
The Naked Now")! Funny. Anyways, I'll place this review on hold for seven days, the usual. Nice work! Ruby2010/2013 15:58, 1 April 2013 (UTC)reply
Its a side effect of my expansions. I've concentrated on season one so far for a two-fold reason; the first is that it's the stick to the later (and better) episodes carrots, and plus one of the re-watches on Den of Geek is only just finishing up season one now. Once I start doing episodes like "
The Best of Both Worlds", "
Tin Man" or "
The Inner Light" then you'll see some very overwhelmingly position reviews. :) Unfortunately the first season was mostly bad. Really bad. Roddenberry wanted to be Star Trek, but it had to be new Star Trek. For example, he initially banned all Vulcans from the show. Things got better after the writers strike at the start of season two, although that did mean that we got to see an episode of Star Trek Phase II at the start of season two.
