Flag
The story takes place in Persia, yet Jamiel hoists the shahada, which is the traditional Saudi Arabian flag.
Only the original story takes place in Persia. The film plot is located in and around Bagdad which is the capital of present-day Iraq, thus an Arabian state. Neither was there any Iraqi state nor any Iraqi flag when the film was made. As a necessary consequence, the film makers had to resort either to an imaginary or a then-existing Arabian flag. Apparently, they chose for the latter. This is artistic freedom since national flags were not yet in use in the day of the Mongol Conquest.
