What on earth does Nadir / Backward mean? It should be linked or explained in the article. -- Ozhiker ( talk) 09:40, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
There is a stub, ASTER GDEM, about the digital elevation model produced by this instrument. I suggest it be merged into this article until such time as there is enough information for it to be spun off as its own separate article. Awickert ( talk) 12:31, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
i agree, it's a stub on the same subject. LordCirth ( talk) 14:17, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
Is it necessary to have this factoid in the opening section? For those people who don't know what km stands for, a simple link to kilometre will inform them. Markb ( talk) 11:47, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
I think the expression "digital elevation model" in the text should be qualified with a "DTM" or "DSM"; I would do the mod myself, unfortunately I don't know the answer (and will have to find it outside Wikipedia...) -- AlainR345 Techno-Wiki-Geek 19:41, 21 October 2013 (UTC)
Here's a clue from USGS validation report: "Recall that ASTER images record the reflective surface, thus the derived elevations in GDEM v2 represent the height of those imaged surfaces. In areas with dense, taller vegetation or built structures, the derived ASTER elevation will represent the elevation of these features rather than ground level." -- AlainR345 Techno-Wiki-Geek 19:59, 21 October 2013 (UTC)
