In Germany, there has been a huge debate over whether Mbeme is guilty of antisemitism, started by a government official. All hig newspapers and many culturally important people weighed in. A result was Mbeme not wanting to work in Germany again.
This is broadly discussed in the German Wiki, but not at all mentioned in the english one.
Can it be added there? JSteed ( talk) 21:40, 19 March 2021 (UTC)
It is appropriate for this to be mentioned here, but this comes under BLP rules, and one should get the gist of the complaint correct, neutrally and of course in normal English. The text added runs thus:
==Antisemitism allegations==
In 2020, Felix Klein, German Federal Government Commissioner for the Fight agains Antisemitism, alleged Mbembe of antisemitism and demanded Mbembe to be expelled from the Ruhrtriennale, where the historian was planned to give the opening speech. [1] This was followed by an intense debate in Germany with Mbembe opposing the allegatoins. The controversy finally led to Mbembe substaining from further public appearences in Germany, according to Thomas Oberender, director of the Berliner Festspiele. [2]
I may have got this wrong in some details, but that is what I remember from reading of this case several times (I didn't even know of him until I read these reports, hence I bookmarked this page)-
We have a perfectly bilingual editor who can handle this topic both with the precision and neutrality required for a BLP article. If he can't afford the time, I will try to rework the above, so that the episode can be included. Nishidani ( talk) 21:23, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
I deleted the paragraph because of a /info/en/?search=Wikipedia:Copyright_violations. The entire affaire is described at length in https://metropol-verlag.de/produkt/jenseits-von-mbembe-geschichte-erinnerung-solidaritaet/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.182.199.246 ( talk) 10:47, 15 October 2022 (UTC)
