the 7th Army did not! surrender in the Ruhr pocket! She managed to escape and fought till the 4th May against the 3rd US Army. On 4th May the German Western Front capitulated to Montgomery and the fight ended. See the German version.

AFAIK, the info in this "stub" is reasonably accurate although incomplete and unreferenced. I tagged as such, and will try to find relevant bibliography to either support what's already in the text or to expand it. Regards,
