Manchester United captain
Harry Maguire is incumbent Manchester United captain. I raised this last season too, as then too it was listed as “TBA” until officially confirmed. This isn’t how other incumbent captains are treated on the page, why are we waiting for him to be named captain every season? Wishful thinking?
Steve0377 (

I think that was the response last season tbf. I’d find it easier simply to list the captains that are incumbent rather than attempt to speculate or guess what might happen during the transfer window.

same here. We should stick to the facts - he's under contract, club captain at the moment, so default is to continue. We shouldn't specualte.

Shouldn't we add protection for confirmed users, like
2022–23 Premier League? I'm tired to again delete Pochettino as Chelsea manager...

Liverpool and Luton are both currently renovating their stadiums, which will likely lead to a change in capacity come the start of the season. Shouldn’t this be mentioned somewhere in the article? I know Anfield’s capacity is supposed to be around 61,000 after renovations are complete in August, not sure about Luton.

Pretty sure Luton don’t even know what their capacity will be come the start of the season. I see a lot of their news in my local paper. They are redeveloping considerably and are struggling to meet deadlines so who knows what condition the ground will be in come August.--

What is the purpose of these dates? All fixtures are unique, so i don't see dates as some essential information.

Yes, there has been a slight miscalculation in goals scored before Newcastle took Sheffield United to the bottom of the table. I have corrected this error.

Pope's clean sheets
There's problem with
Nick Pope clean sheets - he didn't finish last game with MU, so Premier League stats don't attribute him one -
https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/clean_sheet. That's the ref we use for stats on
2023–24 Premier League. In Fantasy Premier League goalkeepers are attributed clean sheats if they play at least 60 mins and don't concede, so Pope has 6 clean sheets (
check here). What should we do in statistics on this page? I'll mention that I had previously case with David de Gea, where many statistics don't attribute him one clean sheet, when he was replaced in ~80 minute of Arsenal game (1-0 at that time) by Victor Valdes, who conceded later on. I was told that this doesn't count to his tally.
Red Devil (
talk) 18:42, 7 December 2023 (UTC)reply
I think that should have been counted as a sixth clean sheet as he played 86 minutes. If we put a note saying the Premier League website discounts Pope a clean sheet as he did not play 100% of the MU match. This is a different situation from
Talk:2018–19_Premier_League#Clean_sheets where different websites gave different stats for a goalkeeper five seasons ago as his team conceded but in this case Pope should be credited. If Manchester United did score then I don't think the credit of a clean sheet for Pope applies since they did not prevent the opposing team from scoring. A side issue: when I looked
here, by sorting out the clean sheets stats, while Pope shows 6 clean sheets, for some reason
Anthony Gordon's tally shows 7. But we never show outfield players in that stats table for clean sheets.

For your last mention, in Fantasy defenders and midfielders get points for clean sheets as well (4 and 1, respectively). As I mentioned, in this game player needs to play 60+ minutes and his team doesn't concede to get a clean sheet (so either is replaced before conciding, or is substituted on after his team concedes) - happens many times, and the same with Pope - in FPL he has 6 clean sheets, on Premier League website - 5.
Red Devil (
talk) 22:27, 8 December 2023 (UTC)reply
I never knew people get points for clean sheets for midfielders/defenders.
After seeing my second sentence again, I should have said "I think we put a note saying the Premier League website discounts Pope a clean sheet as he did not play 100% of the MU match."

I changed the Stadium names to their sponsor names (Dean Court to Vitality Stadium, for example). So should they have their original names or sponsor ones? You tell me.

winter break
is it really necessary to mention the winter break. i mean it's only a 2-3 weeks break, it doesn't really affect the course of the season, apart from it being able to give the players rest. i feel if anything, the description of the winter break should instead be added under the summary section, unless you guys already discussed about the mandatory requirement of the winter break paragraph into the main part of the article. the significance of the winter break is quite similar to the international break, except absolutely 0 football (i'm not sure i don't watch the premier league), but yeah it's optional and not really a crucial point to mention in the article
