Attendance table?
Hi. Per
WP:NOTSTATS this should not be included here -
point #3 - Excessive listings of unexplained statistics. Does anyone have a policy to counter this? Thanks. LugnutsFire Walk with Me 08:13, 31 December 2019 (UTC)reply
And the further discussion is should
similar tables on previous BBL seasons also be removed? Again, WP:NOTSTATS applies, and I think they should all go too. Thanks. LugnutsFire Walk with Me 07:29, 3 January 2020 (UTC)reply
I think these tables should stay as you have pointed out specifically point#3, it says Statistics that lack context or explanation can reduce readability and may be confusing. Argument 1 - These statistics don't lack context as BBL is a double home-and-away round robin league so it emphasizes on the home and away format. Also the crowd figures are important as few years ago, BBL made headlines for popping into the list of top 10 domestic sports leagues with highest average attendances. So it is very important that the list for average attendances per home team be kept in Wikipedia in tabular form. That means it surely has a context. Argument 2 - Also it cannot be called excessive as the table is only 9 rows long. That being said, we can anyday make it a collapsible table if it looks excessive to naked eyes.Argument 3 - Point 3 also says statistics should be placed in tables to enhance readability. And guess what, it was a tabled content. So point 3 rather partly supports it rather than contradicting it. Overall, according to the 3 arguments, I believe that
point #3 rather supports for the table to be kept than it being removed. Arka92 12:23, 15 January 2020 (UTC)reply
I'm struggling to see why an edit like
this is needed, and what benefit it actually has. It is a textbook case of NOTSTATS - "Excessive listings of unexplained statistics". Just because it's in a table does not mean it conforms to the policy. What possible use could the average home attendance figure have on WP? It has no context and adds nothing to the article. Playoffs template
I notice the playoff section uses a manually created table. It would be cleaner and more consistent if used with a template. From looking through the existing templates available it looks like
