Because it was a thesis by Goldman Sachs; and English is an international language. Also, BRIC can be an acronym in Portuguese (Brasil, Rússia, India, China).

I propose "1st BRIC summit" be moved to 2009 BRIC summit because these seem like regular features of life now and the title by year is more standardized on wikipedia
