The helicene hydride shift figure is wrong - single electron movements should be denoted with
single-headed arrows.
Reaction mechanism
The mechanism is wrong. The hydrogen free radical will not be able to go away like that. Instead, bromine free radical (formed at step one, or from reactant) will make bond with it.
