The current iteration of the Philippines' longest-running noontime variety and entertainment show Eat Bulaga!, co-produced by TVJ Productions and TV5, premiered on July 1, 2023, which replaced the latter's simulcast of
ABS-CBN Studios's noontime show It's Showtime.[4] The show was then known by its
placeholder title E.A.T., pending a trademark dispute between TAPE, Inc. and TVJ Productions which eventually concluded in favor of the latter.[5][6][7]
Since 2024, the production started to produce its
Lenten Drama Special for Eat Bulaga!, a tradition that was already started when the show was still produced by TAPE Inc. The production is the first edition to broadcast on
TV5, ending its 27-year stint with
GMA Network and 32-year stint with TAPE Inc., following the departure of the original host from the said network and production company on May 31, 2023.
