Adoption
Reverting lede back to original. The new sentences introduced POV language (biological parent) and used terms limited to the modern period (rights, official, etc.)

I suggest this addition is misplaced for two reasons: 1) since the lede is a summary, the detail should be in the body of the article and in the "See Also, " and 2) modern adoption comes at the end of this lede rather than the middle.

Put controversy section at end rather than upfront. It seems important to delve into the history of the word before applying it to a issue. Also changed a few title words. I suggest adding detail to the last section, e.g. Kurds and Cherokee.

Clarifying lede, largely by removing examples which should be in the discussion; also the entire paragraph only has only source, so I just put that on the end rather than listing it thrice.

Deleted the word "kin" since it excluded adoption between related parties; these actually make up most adoptions.

→How adoptions originate: Last editor blanked out an entire paragraph and replaced it with what reads as advertising for U.S. adoption agencies; should be global definition and not a resource for prospective adoptive parents.

The last edit seemed to fit much better in the section on coercion, so I moved it and tried to integrate it better; this section needs more detail.
