Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seberang Jaya a.k.a. SMKSJ is a secondary school located in Seberang Jaya, Penang, Malaysia.

History

Seberang Jaya National Secondary School (SMKSJ) was established on 4 December 1989 starting with a total of 263 students. Because the school building has not been completed, the students are placed at Sekolah Kebangsaan Pematang Pauh which is approximately 3 kilometers from the actual school site. In March 1990, the students were transferred to SK Seberang Jaya II, Lengkok Tenggiri. The construction of the school was delayed for 2 years, therefore students continued to board at SK Seberang Jaya II in the afternoon session and the number of students at that time amounted to 600 people.

It was only on December 1, 1992 that SMKSJ students moved to the new building and they only used the Block A building because the other buildings were not fully completed. Learning went on without electricity and water for 4 months. The entire building was ready and could be used in March 1992. However, the equipment and infrastructure were not yet fully completed, but the students continued P & P smoothly. Now the building is added 2 more blocks making a total of 5 building blocks. This new building added 47 classrooms, office rooms and science laboratories.

Starting in 2003, Form 6 classes were created. Infrastructure and gardens are added to further beautify the school's environment. Change after change was created to make this school SMK Seberang Jaya progress on par with other schools under the management of several principals until today led by Tuan Hazani
