Penrith and Solway is a proposed constituency of the House of Commons in the UK Parliament. [1] Further to the completion of the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies, it will first be contested at the next general election. [2]
The constituency will be composed of the following (as they existed on 1 December 2020):
The seat will be centred around Penrith, stretching from Alston in the North Pennines to Maryport on the Solway Firth, and will include the following communities:
With effect from 1 April 2023, the second tier councils in Cumbria were abolished and replaced by the new unitary authorities of Cumberland, and Westmorland and Furness. [5] The constituency will therefore now comprise the following from the next general election:
