Pedro Ruiz (born 1957) is a Colombian Artist, whose focus on conceptual painting is marked by examining the socio-political context of his native Colombia. [1]
He studied at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, which he attended from 1979 to 1983. [2] After completing his degree, he began exploring painting and printing techniques at Stanley William Hayter's studio, Atelier 17. [3] After spending five years in Paris, he returned to his home in Bogotá. There he began work with the advertising agency McCann, where he became the company's Artistic Director. [4]
Pedro Ruiz began solo exhibitions as an artist in Bogotá in the late 1980s. [5] He is currently represented by Beatriz Esguerra Art in Bogotá. [6]
