Mineral Bluff is a census-designated place and unincorporated community located in Fannin County in the U.S. state of Georgia. [2] Its population was 223 as of the 2020 census. The community is situated 6 miles (10 km) northeast of the city of Blue Ridge, the county seat, 80 miles (130 km) east of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and 100 miles (160 km) north of Atlanta. [4]

Mineral Bluff first appeared as a town in the 1890 U.S. Census. [7] [8] It was disincorporated prior to the 2000 U.S. Census [16] and reappeared as a census designated place in the 2010 U.S. Census. [17]

History
Prior to European colonization, the area that is now Mineral Bluff was inhabited by the Cherokee people and other Indigenous peoples for thousands of years.
Mineral Bluff was originally called "Douglas", and under the latter name settlement was made in the 1830s. [19] The present name of "Mineral Bluff" was adopted in 1885. [19]
The Georgia General Assembly incorporated Mineral Bluff as a town in 1889. [20]
The community's historic train station, the Mineral Bluff Depot, [21] is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
