Michael Johnson is an American politician from the South Carolina Republican Party. Devine was elected to the South Carolina Senate in the 2020 election to serve the 16th Senate District ( Lancaster and York counties). [1] [2]

Elections

  • 2020 South Carolina Senate election: When longtime SC Senator Greg Gregory announced he would retire in 2019, the 16th Senate District seat became open for the first time since 2011. [3] In a four-way primary, Johnson just managed to beat Kristen Blanchard and come in second, [4] [5] defeating Tom Nichols in the head-to-head runoff. [6]
  • 2024 South Carolina Senate election: In 2024, incumbent Johnson will see a third-party challenge from Kiral Mace, a member of the Workers Party of South Carolina. [7]
