Mermaid, released in 2000, is a television movie based on the real-life story of Desiree Leanne Gill as she learns to accept her father's death. [1] [2] It aired originally on Showtime, [3] and it was released on DVD in 2001. [4] Jodelle Ferland and Ellen Burstyn were both nominated for a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Performer in a Children's Special. [5] [6]
