Menteşe is a municipality and district of Muğla Province, Turkey. [2] Its area is 1,659 km2, [3] and its population is 120,627 (2022). [1] It covers the city of Muğla and the surrounding countryside.
The district and municipality Menteşe was created at the 2013 Turkish local government reorganisation from the former central district of Muğla. [4] [5] Menteşe was the name of a 14th-century beylik in and around Muğla Province.
