The following is a list of the 100 largest cities in Africa by urban population using the most recent official estimate. This reflects only cities located geographically in Africa including related islands.

Kinshasa, the capital and largest city in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Africa, is the nation's financial hub and economic centre.
Lagos, Nigeria is the second largest city in Africa and one of the primary economic hubs for the continent.
Cairo, Egypt is the third largest city in Africa and the largest one in the Arab world.
Riverside of Giza, a mega-suburb of Cairo and the second-largest city in Egypt with over 9 million inhabitants.
Skyline of Dar es Salaam: the largest city in Tanzania and in eastern Africa.
Johannesburg, the largest city and economic hub of South Africa and all of southern Africa.
Abidjan, Ivory Coast's largest city and economic centre, also the most populous one in French-speaking West Africa.
Seaside of Egypt's third-largest city and its ancient capital: Alexandria, the largest port in this bicontinental country.
East Africa's central business hub and Kenya's capital, Nairobi.
Cape Peninsula of Cape Town, Africa's southernmost city and the second largest city of South Africa, also its legislative capital.
