James H. Peoples Jr. (born May 14, 1959) is an American economist who is a professor of economics at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, and a former president of the National Economic Association and the Transportation and Public Utilities Group. [1] He is an expert in the economics of transportation and transportation labor issues. [2]
Peoples grew up in Los Angeles. [2] He graduated from California State University, Dominguez Hills in 1979 and received his PhD from University of California, Berkeley in 1984.[ citation needed]
Peoples taught at Rutgers University from 1984-1990, and has been on the faculty of the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee since then. [3] He has been president of the American Economic Association’s Transportation and Public Utilities Group [4] and the National Economic Association. [5]
