Hester Jackson-McCray (born May 19, 1961) is an American politician in the state of Mississippi. A member of the Democratic Party, she is the representative for District 40 of the Mississippi House of Representatives, defeating incumbent Ashley Henley. [1] [2]

Jackson-McCray was the first African American to represent DeSoto County in the Legislature, and she will be just the third African American to represent a majority-white legislative district since Reconstruction. [3]

She was born on May 19, 1961, in Drew, Mississippi. [4] [5] She is a nurse and lives in Horn Lake, Mississippi. [6]
