The Galathée class was a type of 32-gun frigates of the
French Navy, designed by Raymond-Antoine Haran, with 26 × 12-pounder and 6 × 6-pounder guns. six units were built in all, seeing service during the
Naval operations in the American Revolutionary War, and later in the
French Revolutionary Wars. The
Royal Navy captured and took into service five of the six, the sixth being wrecked early in the French Revolutionary Wars.
Fate: Renamed Décade in 1795; captured by British navy in 1798, becoming HMS Decade. Sold 1811
