English: The Zúñiga Map, from "History of North Carolina," vol. 1 by Samuel A'Court Ashe (1908). Redrawn by Ashe from the version published in "The Genesis of the United States" by Alexander Brown (1890). The map depicts information gathered from Native Americans by the Jamestown colonists in 1608, including details believed to be related to the Lost Colony of Roanoke. The original map is now lost, but a copy obtained by Pedro de Zúñiga was preserved in Spanish archives. |
