Description
English: Willem (Wilhelm) Kieft (1597-1647) portrait. He was the Director of New Netherland and the capital New Amsterdam in North America. The settlements were located in what later became the US states of New York, New Jersey, and Delaware. New Amsterdam was renamed by the English as New York in 1664. This is a reproduction of a painting.
