English: Wall-painting of martyred saints. The central scene refers to Ananias, Azarias, and Misael (the so-called "three children in the furnace"). The text below refers to the martyrs from the Egyptian town of Samalut. Large-scale depictions of the Saints Damian and Cosmas accompanied by their brothers Leontios, Eupredios, and Anthinmos were subsequently added to the wall painting. After surviving torture by burning, here indicated by the palm fronds, they had been martyred during the persecutions of Diocletian in the late 3rd century CE. Stucco. Coptic inscription. 6th century CE. From Wadi Sarga, Egypt. British Museum, London. Gift of the Byzantine Research Fund.
